Swim Meet 101
Welcome to Summer Swim Team at acac!
We have prepared this page for both new and returning families to assist in the transition to competitive summer swim. Meets can be chaotic but, with the right preparation, they are a lot of fun!
Communication
ACAC Coaches and Parents Representatives do their best to communicate effectively and timely throughout the season. In order to ensure you receive the most up to date information, connect with us on the following platforms.

Apparel
Swimmers receive an ACAC Swim Team shirt and cap. New caps will not be issued to swimmers who lose to break their caps.
Team suits are suppled through VA Swim Shop

Call, email, or visit the VA Swim Shop location and they will custom make an acac team suit for your athletes.
Volunteering
- Each family is required fulfill three (3) volunteer roles during the season
- RMAL Summer Swim team events are entirely volunteer run. The meets cannot be held if volunteer requirements are not met
- Positions are broken down by first and second half of the meet
- Volunteer sign ups are done through the Meets & Events Tab at the top of the website or on the SwimTopia app.
Swim Meets
- Swimmers are highly encouraged to participate in meets throughout the season. If you are unable to attend a meet, coordinate with Coach Gwen.
- Meets are broken down in halves, the first half of the meet is through backstroke and the second half of the meet is butterfly through relays.
- Entries – Swimmers may enter up to 3 individual events and 1 relay. Coaches choose events for swimmers based on their assessment of the swimmer’s ability.
- Entries are posted on the outside of the tennis building the day prior to meets.
- Heat Sheets are posted on the end of the Café building during home meets. Parents should use a permanent marker to write the swimmer’s event, heat, and lane on their hand/arm
